How MBARK got started
MBARK Land Management was founded in 2015 by Daniel and Victoria McDuff, and it's still run the same way today: hands-on, owner-operated, with the same two people accountable for every bid and every job. Daniel runs the equipment and the technical side of the work; Victoria runs the business side that keeps a small contractor reliable — scheduling, client communication, and the details that keep a job on track.
MBARK has been and continues to be a family-run business. We pride ourselves on taking an active role in raising our boys Lohrn and Tatum in and around the business. As a result, they have learned to operate machinery, lasers, and the occasional shovel. What started as McDuff Dirt Works, with a single dozer, has transformed into an up-and-coming construction company that has more pound-for-pound capability than anyone else in the area. MBARK bore its name from the overarching theme of getting up and doing something, and if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.
Growth built on standards, not volume
MBARK has grown steadily since 2015 by keeping two things non-negotiable: the quality of the work and the relationship with the client. Capability is part of how we differentiate — pond and water feature excavation, land clearing, and precision grade control are specialties a lot of local contractors either can't take on or won't.
The rest comes down to communication. Clients get direct access to Daniel and Victoria, not a dispatcher, which means fewer surprises and a job that runs the way it was scoped. Most of our work now comes from repeat clients and referrals — we treat that as the actual measure of whether we're doing this right.
